An MDF presentation box should be designed around the item inside it. The same outside appearance can hide very different requirements for clearance, support, hinges, closures and interior protection. A useful RFQ starts with the product, not with a generic box size.
Provide the packed product details
Share the product dimensions and weight. Identify any fragile surface, protruding feature or orientation requirement. If the box must hold several items, show their arrangement and the space needed between them.
State whether dimensions are internal or external
Label every dimension clearly. Internal dimensions control product fit, while external dimensions affect presentation and packing. Confusing the two can produce a box that looks correct on paper but cannot accept the intended insert or product.
Select the opening structure
Common starting points include hinged, lift-off and drawer structures. A custom construction may be possible when the product or opening sequence requires it. Include a sketch, reference sample or short description of how the user should open the box.
Define the finish and brand details
Provide paint, wrap, veneer or another supplied finish reference. Brand requirements should include logo position, size and the intended decorative method for feasibility review. Color names alone are rarely precise enough, so use an approved physical or digital reference where possible.
List hardware and interior requirements
Identify hinges, magnets, closures and other accessories. For the interior, specify the lining, insert, color and protection requirement. The insert must support the product without making removal awkward.
